New Construction Home Inspection
Protect Your Investment from the Very Beginning
Just because a home is brand new doesn’t mean it’s free from defects. Every home is built by people, and even quality builders can have overlooked items during construction.
A New Construction Home Inspection gives you an independent, third-party evaluation at key stages of the building process. Our licensed inspectors look for visible installation issues, workmanship concerns, and conditions that may need your builder’s attention before construction moves forward.
Whether you’re building from the ground up or purchasing a completed inventory home, The FBI Group helps you move in with greater confidence.
Already under construction? No problem. We can join the process at any phase.

1. Every home starts with a solid foundation
Before the concrete is poured, we inspect readily visible foundation preparation, including excavation, footings, rebar placement, accessible components and underground utilities. Catching concerns early is important because many foundation elements cannot be inspected once the slab is poured.
2. Before the exterior walls are completed
we inspect visible masonry components, including block installation, lintels, reinforcement placement, and verify window, door, and garage-door opening sizes.
This inspection helps verify that construction is progressing according to the building plans before additional work covers these components.
3. This is the MILESTONE INSPECTION
This is often the most valuable phase of the construction process. Before insulation and drywall conceal the home’s systems, we inspect the readily accessible framing, plumbing rough-in, electrical rough-in, HVAC components, and visible structural connections.
Once drywall is installed, many of these areas are no longer visible, making this an important opportunity to document conditions before they are covered.
4. A full home Inspection with Blue tape
Before closing, we’ll perform a comprehensive Home Inspection of the completed home.
We evaluate the home’s readily accessible systems and components while also identifying cosmetic items commonly addressed during the builder’s final punch list. Items may include flooring, paint, trim, doors, cabinets, fixtures, windows, and other visible finishes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Even if your home has passed municipal code inspections, an independent new construction inspection is still recommended. Municipal inspectors verify that the home meets minimum building code requirements at specific stages of construction, while a third-party home inspector performs a more comprehensive evaluation of the home’s visible systems looking for quality workmanship and functionality.
Absolutely, just because its new it does not mean its flaw free.
Our Spec Home Inspection is designed for completed new construction homes that are ready for purchase or closing.
We inspect the home’s readily accessible roofing, exterior, structure, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, attic, insulation, and interior systems, along with visible cosmetic concerns, giving you a complete picture before you take ownership.
The cost of a new construction inspection varies depending on the gross sq. ft. home model, and the number of inspection phases being performed. Because every builder and floor plan is different, each phase of the inspection is priced separately.
Most builders provide a one-year limited warranty that allows homeowners to request repairs before the warranty expires.
Scheduling an inspection near the end of your first year can help identify visible concerns that may have developed as the home settled or systems were used through the seasons.
Your inspection report provides organized documentation that you can share with your builder before your warranty period ends. This allows builders to address any warranty issues.
